The New Mandatory Procurement Rules

MED has introduced the biggest government procurement rules change in years. All Government Departments will need to change their policies and practices, and other agencies are encouraged to do so.

Michael Wigley will overview what’s happening.

Multi-Sector Regulation Review

The Minister of Commerce has announced a huge multi-sector review of regulations, large and small. As she said of this 'Quality Regulation' review: “Nothing of this magnitude has been attempted before.” Included in the review will be the role and timing of Regulatory Impact Statements. There will also be a review of the Commerce Act. Peter Mumford, a Director in the MED Regulatory and Competition Policy Branch will outline implications of the Quality Regulations review for public sector lawyers. Michael Wigley will deal with the Commerce Act review.

Contracting with multiple vendors

Most organisations’ IT and telecommunications needs are provided by a number of vendors. Can the contract help in achieving "seamless service" between competitors? Stuart van Rij will work through some of the steps that you can take at the front end to help achieve an integrated service and avoid the “finger pointing”.
