TOPICS:

LORD OF THE RINGS CLARIFIES EMPLOYEE/INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR LAW

Many public sector agencies extensively use contractors. The line between contractor and employee can be unclear yet risky for agencies. Earlier this month the Court of Appeal has clarified how the law changes in 2000 apply. Michael Wigley will cover the case.

CIVIL LITIGATION FOR NON-LITIGATORS

Last session we introduced this topic. Now we’ll go into greater detail and focus on Crown Law’s relationship with its clients. Grant Liddell has many years litigation experience. He is Crown Counsel, and the Team leader of the Governmental Business Team at Crown Law.

He'll talk about Crown Law’s role, how Crown Law can best service and meet the needs of its clients, and what non-litigators instructing Crown Law can and should do during the litigation process.

Grant welcomes feedback and discussions, as does Ken Stephen, Senior Legal Counsel at the Commerce Commission. Previously in a senior in-house role at Telecom, Ken has considerable experience in briefing litigators.
