CLANZ - Wigley & Company Community Contribution Award 2008
Wigley & Company were proud to sponsor the Community Contribution Award at the 2008 CLANZ Conference in Rotorua. Congratulations to: Felicity Heffernan (Department of Conservation) for her work in advocacy and fundraising for Forest and Bird. The $7000 award was donated to the Kiwi Conservation Club (http://www.kcc.org.nz) on Felicity's behalf. Kirsten Todd, who was Highly Commended for her support of the First Foundation.
Maori Language Week Awards
Congratulations to Manukau Institute of Technology, winners of Tertiary Institution Award the Maori Language Week Awards in 2007. Wigley & Company are pleased to have had the opportunity to co-sponsor the award, and congratulate MIT for its work around promoting the use of the Maori language and appreciation of the culture during national Maori Language Week. MIT carefully planned and executed their Māori Language Week programme which included: Māori Television Chief executive Jim Mather lunch time presentation to staff, a Marae Idol competition, the launch of the Te Reo Coffee Club, a discount at the E-Deli if you ordered your coffee in Māori, a bilingual quiz night; full communications, media and promotions plan, and an end of week hangi to celebrate the completion of the week.
Michael Wigley is a Trustee of the 2020 Communications Trust. The Trust was established in 1996, and has since speared its reach nationally via a number of highly acclaimed initiatives - each has a particular focus on empowering ALL New Zealanders to benefit from the opportunities of the new digital era by using ICT as a pathway to engage more fully in their communities, their countries and in today's global village. Some of these initiatives include Computer Recycling, Computers in Homes, Marae Net, and the Computer Access NZ Trust.
